What is the Abilities API?
Think of an ability as a clear task WordPress knows how to do. For example:

The Abilities API is a WordPress feature (from WordPress 6.9) that lets plugins register these tasks in a standard way. Slim SEO registers abilities for meta tags. Other plugins can register their own.
AI tools do not guess how your site works. They call a named ability, pass simple details, and get a clear result.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a shared language between AI apps and tools. Apps like Claude or Cursor speak MCP. Your WordPress site can speak it too when you install the MCP Adapter plugin.
Here is the simple flow:
- Slim SEO registers SEO abilities in WordPress.
- MCP Adapter turns those abilities into tools an AI app can see.
- You connect your AI app to your site.
- You ask the AI to help with SEO in normal language.
- The AI uses the Slim SEO abilities to get or update meta tags.
You do not need to write code or call technical APIs yourself.
Why use this?
Save time on bulk SEO work. Ask the AI to review titles, suggest better descriptions, or update many pages in one conversation.
Keep SEO in sync with content. When you rewrite posts, ask the AI to refresh meta titles and descriptions so they still match the content.

What can Slim SEO abilities do?
With Slim SEO abilities, an AI agent can get or update:

It can work with:

How to use it (simple path)
You need:
- WordPress 6.9 or later
- Slim SEO
- The MCP Adapter plugin
- An AI app that supports MCP (for example Claude Desktop or Cursor)
Then follow this path:
- Install MCP Adapter on your WordPress site (upload the plugin ZIP and activate it).
- Create an Application Password in your WordPress profile. This is a special password for apps. It is not your normal login password.
- Connect your AI app to your site with that username and application password. Your developer or the product docs can help with the exact client settings.
- Ask in plain language. For example:
- "What is the meta title of the post Hello World?"
- "Write a clearer meta description for our pricing page and save it."
- "Set noindex on the thank-you page."
Always review important changes. Treat the AI as an assistant, not as a full replacement for your judgment.
A few tips
- Start with one or two pages so you can check the results.
- Prefer clear requests: name the post or page when you can.
- Keep a user account with only the access the AI needs.
