Having a FAQ section displayed on the search results page (SERP) will help your site get a better SEO score and easily attract the attention of users. To help search engines understand your page’s FAQ and put it on SERPs, you can create a schema for it. Let's learn how to do it now.
What is FAQ Schema?
FAQ schema is a type of schema that tells search engines what are the questions and answers on your site. If this information is useful to the reader, the search engines may display them on the SERPs.
Why should we use FAQ schema?
FAQ schema helps a lot in raising the opportunity of displaying your website’s FAQs on the SERPs. This brings you great advantages as following:
- Users can easily get their needed information as well as further one;
- Impress users with different and prominent information on SERP;
- Increase the CTR (Click Through Rate).
Moreover, having FAQ schema helps the search engines easily understand your website content and be aware it is an informative site. Therefore, they will score your website better.
Install FAQ Schema with Slim SEO Schema plugin
Users can create schemas, including FAQ schema, and set the locations for them in the easiest way with Slim SEO Schema.
Step 1: Create Custom Fields for FAQs
To store the questions and answers, we will use custom fields and create them with Meta Box plugin.
I will create a group of fields as follows:
|Sets of Questions||Group||Set this group be cloneable|
Note that we use the cloneable fields here to have more places to save more than one couple of questions and answers.
In the Setting tab, choose Location as Page, then choose the page you want to put the Q&A on.
Then, you can fill in information about questions and answer as usual.
Step 2: Install Slim SEO Schema
Visit here and choose the best bundle that fits you. Download and install Slim SEO Schema plugin to your site as usual.
Step 3: Create Schema for FAQ
Go to Settings > Slim SEO > Schema section. Then, you can find the FAQ Schema from the list.
I choose the field labeled Question for the Question section. Do the same for the Answer section.
Note that besides using Meta Box's custom fields, you can select default fields or enter questions and answers manually.
Then, move to the Location tab to set where the FAQ schema is for.
In the Type section, I choose Singular to apply the schema for a FAQ page.
In the event you want to apply the schema to other locations, Slim SEO Schema has more options to set such as Archive and Code for you to choose from.
Remark: In the Properties tab, if the values you selected for the question and answer are custom fields, you must select the correct custom post type that you have set up for the custom fields in the Location tab.
In the event that you want to set many locations for your FAQ schema. You can easily do it with the Diverse Location features of Slim SEO Schema, like this.
Save your changes and let's see the result of the FAQ schema of any post on want on Schema Markup Validator.
Create FAQ Schema using Oxygen Builder and OxyExtras
First of all, make sure you’ve installed the Oxygen and OxyExtras on your site already. The OxyExtras is to have features for creating schema.
Choose the FAQ page that you want to display and edit it with Oxygen.
You can easily create and set up FAQ schema using the Pro Accordion component of OxyEtras with Oxygen Builder and Meta Box.
Add the Pro Accordion component. Since I used Meta Box custom fields to display the FAQ schema information, I chose Accordion - Dynamic Items (Meta Box) in the Accordion Type section.
In the Dynamic Data section, you can input the value to show the questions and answers.
The Question and Answer fields are the subfields of the cloneable field group named Sets of Questions. So, in the Cloneable group field box, I chose sets_of_questions which is the ID of the group field.
To display the questions, I input the ID of the Question field in the Header text field box.
For the answers, I input the ID of the Answer field as well and set it in the Content field box.
Then, scroll down to the Advanced section.
Choose Enable in the FAQ schema markup box to display the FAQ schema for the content.
Finally, choose Apply Params to apply and end the setup.
Here is the result.
